15:15 – 16:45 Plenary Session and Debate: “From corrections to education: new perspectives”

• Abstract: Youth Justice is a wide discussion topic in Europe, where different realities and perspectives coincide, that attempt from the most restrictive approaches to others more orientated to prevention or reeducation, with more advanced countries and other that are introducing changes like Romania. This table will debate about these realities and broach proposals about which could be the way forward in the next few years.

*Participants are invited to enjoy a program of instrumental music from the international repertoire and Romanian folklore, in the original interpretation of a unique artistic group, a co-operation between OLTENIA Philharmonic and Craiova Detention Centre. The artistic program will be completed by a musical moment performed by three minors, members of Supercalifragilistic band.

*Minors in custody in Buziaş Centre will take part in the exhibition, will take instant photos during the conference and will process photos to offer to participants until the event ends up;
The photography exhibition is set up under the patronage of „Euro Foto Art” Association in Oradea and is represented by Mr. Ştefan Toth

• Abstract: In this table, participants will reflex and discuss about whether the youth justice is apart from a sanction, an opportunity for the young offenders to reintegrate into society, a preventive intervention that acts as a barrier before they become adults.

Parallel Panel 1: “Juvenile justice: designing new futures” – (Legal Perspective – Juvenile probation)
• Abstract: The open prison measures are the most applied for the justice professionals, being the less aggressive measures and with a high impact in the youth integration process. Knowing the approaches and the experiences of the different countries in these types of measures will constitute a powerful and efficient tool for professionals in order to dispose of a better range of measure that adapted to the characteristics of the crime and the circumstances of the young, allow better results on the intervention processes.

Panel 3: “Spaces that transform, spaces that transmit, spaces that educate” – (Legal perspective Internment)
• Abstract: A detention measure means a deprivation of liberty, and this implies control over the activities that are developed in the centres. The spaces must allow security and control, at the same time that guarantees dignity and the fundamental right of the young people. This table will discuss how this approach is applied in each country, being ones more restrictive and others more open, and will try to look for points in common on this matter.
